Stop Motion Video

For the final stop motion video, or subject was the first digital camera. The rap we made up was pretty cheesy so we decided to go with it and make an extremely cheesy, cute video. Each group member had a line and to go with that line we printing pictures to match the lyrics. My favourite part is at the end of the video when we all hold up pictures of cheese while the lyrics say "it has forever changed our lives" and everyone smiles. After trying both continuous shots and just manual one by one shots, we decided the second option would work better.

Portrait of Classmate

I had a lot of fun during this photo shoot. The model goofed around and made funny and serious faces. She gave me a huge array of poses to work with. The fan was on lightly in this picture and I like the way it adds a little movement to the photograph. In Photoshop I cropped the picture to frame her better. However I wanted to leave some empty space around her to create a vignette effect. I also purposely left more space on the left side of the picture because that is the direction she is gazing in. Her expression is priceless. During the shoot I saw that she has a friendly, outgoing and quirky personality. I think that her devious and playful expression really captures her personality well. As for the lighting, I used soft Rembrandt with a backlight. In photoshop I adjusted the black and white to give the picture a timeless feeling. I also softened the white to give her face a nice glow. In all, this is probably my favourite picture that I've ever taken.

Portrait Trial

After adjusting my ISO I found a good lighting. With the help of my crew we took several different shots using fill light, back light, reflector and filter. We did two lighting set ups: Rembrandt, and butterfly. Personally my favourite lighting combination is in the 4th picture. The lighting is Rembrandt style with a back light and a filter to soften the light.

Research Portrait

This has been my favourite portrait since the first time I saw it.

Photographed by Steve McCurry for National Geographic magazine in 1983.

What I love about this portrait is the intensity that emerge from the girls eyes. The composition is perfectly cropped and the colours are so vivid. Viewers eyes are immediately drawn to the girl's piercing green eyes. This is the kind of picture that once seen, will haunt you.

Slow Shutter Speed With Flash

I had a lot of trouble with this assignment at first. I did 3 shoots 2 of which were unsuccessful. However the final one went very well. I focused the picture on the model while she was standing still and then as she ran I moved the camera with her. The camera stayed focused on her but blurred the background creating a beautiful smooth image. I absolutely love this image.

Panorama

I wanted to take a panorama of something very long. I originally decided on a train but on my way home from school, I was inspired by the metro. I tried captureing the train several times but it wasn't stopped for long enough and one end of the panorama always ended up blurry. I decided to take a panorama of the tracks instead. I really like the way it turned out! I love the curved fish eye effect it gives.
